Today we celebrate the life of Mr. Staats. In his 30+ years of service at Alva High School, he was a major influence on past, present, and future Goldbugs. Our hearts are heavy, and our prayers go out to his family. Thank you Mr. Staats for your impact on Alva!

The Oklahoma FFA family mourns the loss of a true leader, mentor and advocate for agricultural education, Jack Staats.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Jack Staats Permanent Trust. Checks may be made payable to the Oklahoma FFA Foundation with “Jack Staats Permanent Trust” noted in the memo line and mailed to:

Our team has worked hard this winter by taking part in our annual GRIT Challenge. Since the beginning of the semester, our guys have shown up to early morning workouts, after school workouts, gone to support their classmates at events both at home and on the road, participated in community service, and excelled in the classroom.
Tonight we celebrated the winning team with a steak dinner from The Troubador. The winning team consisted of Tripp Cole, Coleman Gaisford, Trell Rose, Brynden Hunt, Zach Nichols, Daxter Courson, and Dyce Malone. Brynden was also the highest point earner! Congratulations on your hard work! We look forward to the next competition after Spring Break.

Congratulations to Coach Mead and Coach Wilson for completing the USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certification! They are excited to share the information they gained with all athletes at Alva. We are proud to have coaches who are committed to helping our students!

Been holding on to this announcement for a little bit. Congratulations to some well deserving young men! The legacy left on Goldbug Football will not soon be forgotten. Way to finish strong and lead by example. Proud of these young men!
