We wish our City Manager, Paul DeBuff, the best on the next steps on his journey. From "Fixin' the Dang Roads," (five miles totally reconstructed so far) to the creation of popular events such as Fall Fest & We**ie Dog Race, Irish Fest, and Old Town Christmas, increasing fire and police staffing and compensation, to negotiating tens of millions in cash from developers to pay their way to develop here, Paul has poured heart and soul into Alvarado.

Alvarado City Manager Paul DeBuff has resigned, effective at the end of the month. He has been named the village manager for Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

We all know someone who goes the extra mile for our community — the neighbor who is always willing to lend a hand, the volunteer who gives their time without asking for recognition, or the person whose leadership, kindness and service make a lasting difference in Alvarado.

Now is your chance to recognize them!

Nominations are officially OPEN for the 2026 Alvarado Citizen of the Year Award!

This annual honor recognizes an Alvarado resident whose service and leadership have made a positive impact on our city.

This year’s Citizen of the Year will be recognized at the November 16 City Council meeting and will receive the special honor of helping Santa light Alvarado’s community Christmas tree on December 12!

Nominees must reside in Alvarado (76009).
