What a great morning in Alvin! My wife and I enjoyed participating in the 5K alongside members of the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department, friends, neighbors, and hundreds of runners who came out to support.

It was also great catching up with my friends, Alvin ISD Trustees Fernando Hinojosa, and Gabe Garza, and probably the hardest-working volunteer you’ll ever meet, Ms. Denise Stanaland of Alvin Blue Santa. My friend Jason also did a great job keeping everyone entertained as emcee!

Even after retirement, Coach Lenny Garcia continues to serve this community and the students of Alvin ISD. Coach Garcia, his wife Victoria, and an army of volunteers put in countless hours each year to make this event possible and raise scholarship funds for local students.

Monica and I are grateful we had the opportunity to be a small part of it. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, sponsored, ran, walked, cheered, or helped make the Beneeezy Purple Monkey Fun Run another great success!

Show your support for Troop 400 and honor our nation on the 25th anniversary of September 11th. 🇺🇸

Troop 400 will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony at 7:00 PM on September 11th at National Oak Park, respectfully retiring American flags while honoring those who serve and remembering those we lost.

A meaningful way to come together as a community and NEVER FORGET.

Jacket Pride Never Dies!

Way to go, Alvin ISD student, Brooks Scott. I applaud his parents for raising this young man to be such an outstanding individual and, in the words of Principal Ford, the "true definition of a student-athlete" with an impressive 6.87 GPA.

I am excited to see what the future holds for this young man. As a community, we must rally behind our students and let them know we support them in their future endeavors. We stand with them through their failures and their successes, because we are always stronger when we stand together.

Congratulations, Brooks!

Honored to be on the A-Team!!!

Honored to be on the A-Team!!!

With less than two weeks to go before our biggest fundraiser of the year, the to-do list never stops! Board members and volunteers are in and out every day dropping off supplies, picking up materials, crafting decorations, and handling all the details behind the scenes.

None of this happens without the hard work of our volunteers, board members, donors, and community partners. 💚

With a SOLD OUT crowd, this year’s Gala is expected to be our largest ever all in support of Alvin ISD teachers and students!

Congratulations to Alvin College Culinary graduate Miguel Soliz, who will be competing on FOX’s Hell's Kitchen, airing September 24!

I had the pleasure of meeting Miguel several times while he worked behind the counter at 1820 Coffee House. He was always kind, hardworking, and a wonderful representative of our community.

Miguel, know that Alvin is rooting for you! Best of luck we can’t wait to watch!

Thankfully no one was seriously injured. Please pay attention to the road signs.

Thank you to all of the crews who worked hard to reopen the roadways and rail lines.

Thank you to all the First responders who secured the scene and made sure that crews stayed safe.

🎃 The first pumpkin of the season!

There’s something special about picking that very first one. Months of planting, watering, watching, and waiting…and now harvest will soon be underway.

Fall is coming to Froberg’s Farm! 🇺🇸🍂🎃

There have been plenty of “fires” on social media lately… but you can’t put out a fire without a working hydrant.

Way to go, Alvin Public Works!

This hydrant was taken out by a suspected vehicle and quickly replaced. Equipment like this doesn’t have an alarm when it’s damaged, so if it isn’t reported, it may take some time before crews know there’s a problem.

See a pothole, utility damage, or another concern around town? Report it using the link in the comments below. ✅

🎨 Alvin’s first Traffic Box Art Wrap is officially installed! 🚦

This project first began in 2025, and just a few weeks ago, we voted at City Council to approve the first round of artwork. Today, we’re getting to see that vision become reality and I think this first box looks incredible!

Even better, the first installation happens to fall on the 25th anniversary of Keep Alvin Beautiful . What a fitting way to celebrate 25 years of working to make Alvin a cleaner, brighter, and more beautiful community.

This project is a partnership between the City of Alvin and Keep Alvin Beautiful, and I want to thank our amazing City staff and everyone who helped make it happen. A special thank you to Suzanne Dillmann and Robyn Moore, who both worked incredibly hard to help bring this project from an idea to what we’re seeing today.

Keep Alvin Beautiful continues to do so much for our community, and organizations like this only succeed because of dedicated volunteers, generous donations, and people who simply care about where they live.

And this is just the beginning! More traffic boxes will be wrapped in the coming weeks and months, and hopefully we’ll have another round of artwork coming before Council soon.

One box at a time!!!
