🌡️🥵Another hot day is ahead for Brazoria County!

A Heat Advisory remains in effect today through Saturday evening. If you need a place to get out of the heat and cool off, Brazoria County Libraries are open during regular business hours.

Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, and take advantage of a cool place when you need it.

Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, and sacrifice time with their families to help others when they're needed most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and everything you do to keep your communities safe.

Tag a volunteer firefighter who deserves a shoutout. ❤️🚒

🚸 School Zone Safety Tip

🛑 When a school bus has its stop arm extended and red lights flashing, drivers must stop unless the roadway is divided by a physical barrier or an unpaved median. Knowing when to stop helps protect students as they get on and off the bus.

Slow down, stay alert, and help keep everyone safe this school year.

After all the rain that we have experienced recently, mosquitoes can turn your yard into their breeding ground! Remember these tips on how to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay!

1) Empty Items with Standing Water: Check buckets, flower pots, and any container that can hold water.
2) Trim the Grass: Mosquitoes love to hide in tall grass.
3) Gutter Maintenance: Clear your gutters of debris to prevent water buildup.
4) Pool & Pond Care: Treat your swimming pools and ponds to prevent mosquito breeding.
5) Freshen Up Birdbaths: Change water in birdbaths and fountains regularly.
6) Pet Bowl Protocol: Empty and clean pet water bowls daily.
7) Dump Out Toys & Tools: Remove water from wagons, toys and wheelbarrows.
