Over the past week, we’ve taken a look at Alvord through its history, its agriculture, its railroad, its businesses, its landmarks, and the places that helped shape this community.

But after telling all those stories, we’ve come to realize something: Alvord’s story is one of hard work, community, and people who believe in where they live. Its history built the foundation, but its people are writing what comes next.

This is Alvord. And the story is still being written.

Hello Alvord community!

We wanted to inform the community that we have a very nice international visitor here in town! Mark is a foreign exchange University student from a small european country called Estonia doing his summer exchange program in Wise County area. Mark is selling early learning materials for little one’s and also educational books & apps from 1st grade all the way to the end of high school to help with school work.
He has received his permit from the city of Alvord to be doing this.

We are posting this to let our Citizens know he will be in our Community for the next few weeks.

BOIL WATER NOTICE RESCINDED
July 30, 2026

On July 28th, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Alvord Public Water System, PWS #2490001, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of July 30th, 2026.

BOIL WATER NOTICE
Effective July 28, 2026 12:09 pm

Due to a catastrophic water main rupture, and subsequent loss of pressure the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Alvord Public Water System to notify all customers between 6202 Old Decatur and 6122 Old Decatur Rd shown within the attached map to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

Update: Public Works has completed the water line repair. No Boil Water Notice has been issued.

Public Works has scheduled a water line repair for Monday, July 20, 2026. This repair may result in temporary water service disruption to water services located within the provided map. A Boil Water Notice will be issued accordingly. Additional details will be communicated on the day of the repair.
