Thank you to John Hintz, Kathy Thomas, and Michelle Hansen Hoggatt for speaking at our Panhandle Democrats Monthly Meeting - April 2026 and helping educate our members on important ways to serve our democracy.

John and Kathy shared valuable insight into serving as Election Judges and Election Clerks, two critical roles that help ensure our elections run fairly and efficiently. These positions are especially important in our region, where Democratic representation at polling locations has often been limited.

Michelle also spoke about becoming a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) and the important role VDRs play in helping Texans register to vote. We appreciate her work with the Amarillo League of Women Voters and their continued efforts to expand voter access across the Amarillo area.

Whether you want to help work elections, register voters, or become more involved in your community, there are meaningful ways to make a difference.

Staying informed about local government matters, and sometimes important discussions happen in meetings that many residents never get the chance to watch live.

Potter County Judge candidate, Jerri For Judge, recently suggested that residents take time to review this week’s Potter County Commissioners Court meeting to better understand the discussions taking place at the county level.

Agenda items included topics such as county va**ng restrictions, economic development agreements, law enforcement grant funding, elections staffing, and other county business.

We encourage residents to watch the meeting for themselves, review the discussions, and decide what issues matter most to them. Staying engaged in local government helps ensure transparency and accountability.

💙 Delegate Spots Still Open for the Texas Democratic Convention! 💙

The Texas Democratic Party State Convention is right around the corner, and both the Potter County Democratic Party and the Randall County Democrats have open spots for delegates.

This is your opportunity to be part of the largest Democratic gathering in the state. Delegates help shape the direction of our party, connect with Democrats across Texas, and help build the momentum we need heading into November.

Who can serve as a delegate?
• You must not have voted in the Republican primary
• If you did not vote in the Democratic primary, you can still participate by signing a pledge of loyalty to the Democratic Party

This convention is where ideas turn into action. It is where campaigns gain energy, partnerships are built, and the path forward is defined.

If you are serious about strengthening Democratic efforts in the Panhandle and across Texas, this is where you need to be.
