PILC is a Center for Independent Living, one of 27 centers in Texas and 500 across the nation. Centers for Independent Living promote the Independent Living philosophy, which states that people with disabilities have the right to make their own choices for their lives and to live independently in their community, not in an institution. We help people with disabilities achieve their independent living goals through peer support, independent living skills development and education.

🎉 Huge shout-out to Hereford ISD! 🎉

Today marked the kickoff of our very first rural YES Camp, and what an amazing start it was! Our consumers were an absolute blast to spend the day with, bringing energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to every activity.

Our young agents jumped right into creating their spy-themed name tags while learning valuable skills such as self-advocacy, teamwork, effective communication, and active listening. Throughout the day, they worked together, built connections, and discovered new ways to support one another.

The fun continued as we created spy jars and spy gear pouches, adding a hands-on, creative twist to our "Mission ImPossible" adventure!

We are so excited for the rest of camp and can't wait to see our campers continue to grow, learn, and shine. Thank you, Hereford ISD, for partnering with us to make this opportunity possible for youth in our rural communities!

Due to funding availability and processing requirements, wait times may apply. A small cost participation fee is required and is based on household income, the cost of the requested item, and current federal poverty guidelines. We only services the top 26 counties.

Through a partnership with Airbnb.org, eligible survivors may qualify for up to 28 days of temporary housing assistance while planning next steps and recovery.
