Lone Star Scales and Tails

LSS&T was established to provide a sanctuary for animals in need, however, it has since become a place of great fellowship for our community through our network of volunteers, interns, staff members, animal control officers, game wardens, wildlife rehabilitators, sheriff’s deputies, veterinarians, and teachers. This year we had the privilege of working with the Engineering Department at West Texas A&M University in the design of a prosthetic leg for our 3-legged pig named Peg Leg.

On behalf of everyone here at LSS&T, I would like to personally thank you for your past sponsorship. Because of your generosity last year, we were able to more than double the size of our facility. We were also able to upgrade and build dozens of new enclosures…to add on 2 large educational rooms for school programs, summer camps, and private parties…to fence in the outdoor area behind our building to provide a safe space for our livestock to graze…and to complete countless other building upgrades that were needed to keep LSS&T running. I mean this when I say, we would not be here without your help! The monthly cost to operate an animal care facility can be overwhelming, but the support and encouragement we have received from the community has convinced us to keep moving forward in 2020!!

Our Goals for 2020!

It’s time for us to expand again! With new animals arriving at our sanctuary every week, we realize that we are quickly running out of space! To resolve this issue, our plan is to purchase land as soon as possible to start construction on an outdoor sanctuary for the larger wildlife and livestock animals. With the addition of large animals, we are also in need of a small horse trailer to transport the animals back and forth for veterinary care. We realize this will be a huge project, but we are up to the challenge. There’s nothing like LSS&T anywhere in the Panhandle. Our unique facility truly provides an unforgettable experience…and this is just the beginning!
