The Texas Panhandle Poison Center of Texas Tech UHSC's School of Pharmacy has conducted 31 unused medication take back events collecting nearly 18,000 pounds of as of April of 2014. Due to funding constraints, events are currently limited to twice per year in Abilene, Amarillo, and Lubbock. Our Medication Cleanout group is also committed to providing technical assistance and guidance to other grou

ps that are interested in developing programs. Lastly, a core component of our program is data collection (no patient-specific information) to identify the underlying causes of the accumulation of unused medications in homes so that we can begin to develop solutions/prevention techniques.
