The NWS is forecasting the possibility of more storms with damaging winds this evening, followed by heavy rainfall overnight. If that forecast holds, it is possible that there will be more flooding. Please do not drive through flooded areas, even shallow looking ones. It only takes a few inches of fast moving water to carry a car off the road, and it's entirely possible that the road may have been washed away and you just can't tell.

More heavy rain is possible tonight and the flood watch for counties along/south of US-30 has been extended until Friday morning. A few storms may also be capable of gusty winds but severe weather chances are very low. Never drive through water-covered roadways. Turn around, don't drown!

Folks, the National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather with possibility of tornadoes for our area today (June 17, 2026). Be sure to have a plan in the event of severe weather, and stay safe.

In the event that severe weather causes damage, please stay home and off the roads, to give emergency responders the ability to get to scenes to help those in need.

At approximately 1030 pm on the night of April 14, 2026, AVFC and Peru Fire Department were dispatched to Road's End Mobile Home Park for a reported structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to a working mobile home fire. PFD immediately engaged in suppression tactics, establishing water flow and entering the home and working to extinguish the fire, with support from AVFC. After about two hours the fire was out, and crews returned to service.

The homeowner was taken by Parkview EMS to Duke's Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation. No one else was injured during this incident.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

We are always so humbled by the support we get from our community! Our 2026 Fish & Tenderloin Dinner was another big success, and we're so grateful for everyone that came out. The food was great, the company we shared it with was even better. Thank you to everyone who came out, and who helped make this another great year.
