Last night the Ambridge Fire Department (A shift) was dispatched to 400 Duss Ave., along with our first alarm assignment, for a commercial structure fire. Engine 71 arrived within 4 minutes of dispatch and found a working fire on division 2 of a large 3 story structure. Forced entry was made and an attack line was stretched.

Engine 71 crew led by Justin Miller had a quick knock on the fire that limited the damage to the structure. There is still significant smoke and water damage throughout. There were no reported injuries and the fire was under control within 20 minutes. Extensive overhaul was conducted to ensure there was not any hidden fire.

The fire is currently under investigation.

Thank you to our mutual aid companies Aliquippa Firefighters, Cochran Hose Company - Sewickley Fire Department, Crescent Township Volunteer Fire Department, Harmony Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., Baden Volunteer Fire Department - Station 47 for the assistance, Ambridge PD, and Medic Rescue for the ems standby.

Welcome back to school Bridgers!!

Today is the first day of school for Ambridge. Please give yourself some extra time to travel this morning as buses are back on the road! Please follow the 15 mph speed limits in school zones to ensure the safety of the children!

We did our research, 15mph across Duss Ave through the highschool school zone only adds 19 seconds to your drive! Only 19 seconds!!! Slow down and save a life!

Have a great year Bridgers! And as always, your Ambridge Firefighters are looking forward to fire prevention week!

Candidates are taking their physical agility and written tests today for the full-time position. Firefighters assisted civil service with the physical portion this morning. Good luck to the candidates today!

Huge thank you to Allegheny Health Network - Prehospital Care Services for providing the medical standby during our physical exams!

This past week all of our SCBA bottles that were purchased through our 2021 FEMA grant were due for their 5 year hydrostatic testing. Weber’s Tank Testing tested all of our bottles and they are certified for another 5 years of use!

SCBA bottles only have a lifespan of 15 years and are required to be tested every 5 years. Ambridge has been using Weber Tank testing for decades and we appreciate all that they do for us!

Last week your Ambridge Firefighters participated in a full scale exercise with Columbia Gas on responding to a gas leak emergency. The weather wasn't great, but the weather didn't stop us.

Firefighters were evaluated by Columbia Gas auditors on how we respond and handle the situation that was simulated. It was a great training for our firefighters and we scored extremely well on the evaluation!

Yesterday evening your Ambridge Firefighters attended the Little Bridgers football practice and gave them our annual soak down! As always the kids loved it and I'm sure the parents loved us for the mess in their car!

Ambridge Firefighters are always happy to attend community events! Not only do the participants enjoy it but it also gives our firefighters some valuable training!

Have a great year Bridgers!

A Code Purple air quality alert means conditions are "very unhealthy" with an Air Quality Index (AQI) value between 201 and 300. At this level, high concentrations of pollutants like fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pose serious health risks. Everyone may experience adverse symptoms, and sensitive groups are at risk for severe health effects.

Children and the Elderly are at HIGH risk today and should not be outdoors unless necessary! Everyone should limit their outdoor time especially during a Code Purple Air Alert.

🚨 **AIR QUALITY ALERT & 911 CALLS** 🚨

We are currently experiencing poor air quality due to wildfire smoke from Canada.

Our 911 lines have been receiving a high volume of calls about the air quality today. While we understand these concerns, these calls can delay responses to active, life-threatening emergencies and prevent dispatchers from answering emergency calls as quickly as possible.

**To Protect Yourself:**
✅ Stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
✅ Set your home A/C and vehicle ventilation to **"recirculate"** to help keep outside air from entering.
✅ Limit outdoor activity, especially strenuous exercise.

⚠️ **Sensitive groups**—including children, older adults, and anyone with respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD—should remain indoors as much as possible.

Please **do not call 911** to ask about air quality conditions. If you would like air quality updates, please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Air Quality Index page:
