Last night, crews from Fair Oaks (Station 308), Leetsdale (Station 309), and Bell Acres (Station 307) came together for a joint training session at the Bell Acres station. The hands-on exercises focused on crucial fireground operations, including vertical ventilation techniques on the roof and forcible entry training using a specialized door prop inside the bay. This collaborative session provided an excellent opportunity for the firefighters to sharpen their skills and build seamless teamwork, serving as a vital stepping stone as all three stations prepare to officially merge and form the new Quaker Valley Fire District.

🚒 A Historic Night for Our Community 🚒
On Monday, May 11th, members of Big Sewickley Creek, Fair Oaks, and Leetsdale Fire Departments came together for something much bigger than a routine business meeting.
At each department’s monthly meeting, members voted to formally sign the Merger Agreement and Resolution — officially paving the way for a new unified department: the Quaker Valley Fire District.
This is the result of countless hours of work, tough conversations, and an unwavering commitment to better serving our community. While the process will be finalized later this year, all three departments will continue operating together and protecting the people we serve.
Pictured are the Presidents and Secretaries who signed on behalf of their departments:
🔹 Big Sewickley Creek — Tom Kuny (President) & Alex Dietz (Secretary)
🔹 Fair Oaks — Chris Alles (President) & Mark Brooks (Secretary)
🔹 Leetsdale — Adam Ross (President) & Ernie Logan (Secretary)

PSA - Pennsylvania Drivers: Paul Miller’s Law goes into full enforcement across PA starting June 5, 2026. If you are caught holding or using a phone while driving - even at a red light - you can be pulled over and cited. What’s changing: no holding your phone at all while driving, applies even when stopped in traffic, and police can stop you for this alone. Penalty: $50 fine plus court costs starting June 2026. Still allowed: hands-free use (Bluetooth, CarPlay, etc.) and emergency calls. This law was passed after a fatal distracted driving crash and is aimed at eliminating phone use behind the wheel entirely.
