Free fireworks safety buckets available at Station 51! 🪣🎆

Thanks to the generosity of TNT Fireworks, American Fork Fire & Rescue has received 150 five-gallon buckets to help families celebrate this fireworks season safely.

Stop by our Station during business hours to pick up a free bucket while supplies last (to spread the love, only one bucket per family, please). These buckets are perfect for safely soaking used fireworks, sparklers, and duds before disposal.

Using a fireworks disposal bucket is simple:
💧 Fill the bucket with water before your celebration
🎇 Place used fireworks, sparklers, and duds in the water
🌙 Let them soak overnight
🗑️ Dispose of the wet fireworks in your regular trash

Be sure to stop by, say hello, and grab a bucket for your family!

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Issued — Help Us Prevent Wildfires

The State of Utah has issued a Stage 1 Fire Restriction Order for unincorporated areas of Utah County due to extremely dry conditions and increased wildfire risk.

These restrictions prohibit activities that can create a spark or ignition source in dry vegetation, including:
• Open fires (except in approved locations)
• Fireworks
• Exploding targets
• Tracer ammunition
• Other spark-producing activities

American Fork Fire & Rescue encourages everyone to use extra caution when enjoying the outdoors.

We appreciate the leadership of Mayor Carn and the many local officials who worked together to request additional restrictions to help protect our communities, residents, firefighters, and the natural landscapes we all enjoy during this period of heightened fire danger.

Thank you to:
• Mayor Wyatt Cook — Cedar Fort
• Mayor Jared Gray — Eagle Mountain
• Mayor Hollie McKinney — Fairfield
• Mayor Paul Binns — Lehi
• Utah County Commission Chair Skyler Beltran

Wildfire prevention is a community effort. Please do your part by making smart choices outdoors and helping keep our communities safe.

🚨 Brush Fire Incident Update 🚨

Yesterday, crews were dispatched to a brush fire near the I-15 on-ramp, where fire was found on both sides of the ramp and rapidly spreading in multiple directions.

Upon arrival, firefighters immediately began a coordinated fire attack from multiple locations to slow the spread and protect nearby infrastructure. The fire was quickly moving toward the FrontRunner and railroad tracks, requiring the temporary shutdown of FrontRunner UTA service, Union Pacific rail operations, and the freeway on-ramp to provide crews with safe access and allow for effective fire suppression efforts.

Due to the size and complexity of the incident, additional resources from multiple surrounding agencies were requested. Fire crews worked quickly and efficiently to gain control of the fire, followed by extensive mop-up operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and no further spread occurred.

We appreciate the outstanding coordination and teamwork from all responding agencies who assisted with this incident and helped continue protecting our communities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported

With the holidays approaching and fireworks sales beginning, American Fork Fire & Rescue wants to remind residents of the fireworks restrictions throughout American Fork and Cedar Hills.

Fireworks are not allowed in certain areas due to increased wildfire risk. Areas near the foothills and wildland areas, along with designated restricted zones, may prohibit the use of all fireworks.

There are also additional areas where aerial fireworks are not permitted, including areas near restricted boundaries and other designated locations.

Before lighting fireworks, make sure you know where they are allowed and where they are restricted. Help us protect our homes, neighborhoods, and open spaces by celebrating safely and responsibly.

For maps and more information on fireworks restrictions, visit your city’s website.

🔥 WILDFIRE PREPAREDNESS STARTS NOW 🔥

Did you know that much of Cedar Hills is located within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)? That means our homes and neighborhoods are directly adjacent to natural vegetation, increasing the risk of wildfire.

Now is the time to prepare your home and your family.

✅ Create defensible space around your home:
• Remove dead grass, weeds, leaves, and pine needles
• Clear flammable materials within 5 feet of your home
• Trim tree branches away from roofs and other trees
• Keep grass mowed to 4 inches or less

✅ Have an evacuation plan:
• Know at least two ways out of your neighborhood
• Prepare an emergency kit with water, medications, and important documents
• Keep your vehicle fueled and ready to go

✅ During a wildfire:
• Stay informed of fire conditions
• Keep cell phones charged
• Leave early if conditions become concerning
• Follow evacuation orders immediately

Wildfires can move quickly. Preparing today can make all the difference tomorrow.
Protect your family. Protect your home. Protect Cedar Hills.
