π DISTRICT 151: LET'S TALK ABOUT FULLY FUNDING OUR SCHOOLS
As we send our kids back to school this week, I want to have an honest conversation about education funding in Georgia.
My opponent will share his voting record - and yes, he has voted for state budgets that meet the Quality Basic Education (QBE) formula requirements. That's important context.
But here's what that leaves out:
The QBE formula is outdated. It doesn't account for the real costs our schools face TODAY - safe and reliable student transportation, adequate counselor ratios for mental health support, critical safety upgrades, and modernized facilities.
Meeting an old formula isn't the same as meeting our children's actual needs.
Recent budgets have included teacher pay raises, which our educators absolutely deserve. But when we simultaneously pass voucher programs like Senate Bill 233 - directing $6,500 per student away from public schools - we're taking resources from the very systems that serve 90% of Georgia's children, especially in rural communities like parts of District 151.
I'm not here to attack anyone. I'm here to be honest with you.
Our children are Georgia's greatest investment. They deserve MORE than just checking a formula box. They deserve schools with:
β
Safe, reliable transportation
β
Sufficient counselors and support staff
β
Updated safety systems
β
Modern learning environments
β
Resources that reflect 2026 reality, not outdated calculations
I'm Ethan Wolfe, and I'm running to push for FULLY funding our public schools - not just on paper, but in practice. Our kids can't wait.
