These individuals are stating that you have an outstanding warrant or outstanding fines. They are advising that payment be made immediately by purchasing money packs and providing them with the numbers on the back. Remember that you should NEVER provide your Social Security number, credit card or banking information or Driver License information to anyone over the telephone. NO ONE FROM THE SUMTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL EVER CONTACT THE CITIZENS BY TELEPHONE IN REFERNCE TO WARRANTS, FINES OR FEES.

On June 5, 2026, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office hosted its annual D.A.R.E. Day celebration to honor fifth-grade students who demonstrated positive decision-making and successfully completed the D.A.R.E. program.

As part of the celebration, students gathered for a special reward trip to Rigby's Water World in Warner Robins. The event recognized the students' commitment to making responsible choices and reinforced the lessons learned through the D.A.R.E. program.

The day provided an opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements, enjoy time with their peers, and be recognized for their dedication to living drug-free and making positive choices both in school and in their communities.

Yankee Road will be closed to ‘through’ traffic between S.R. 308 and Middleton Road for approximately two weeks while road construction is performed beginning on Monday, June 15, 2026.

On June 6, 2026, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, alongside the Sumter County Fire Department and Air Evac 86, was honored to participate in the Leroy Young Kids Fishing Tournament.

More than 150 children and their families enjoyed a beautiful day of sunshine, fishing, and community fellowship. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore various public safety vehicles and meet the dedicated personnel who serve our community every day.

We would like to thank the organizers, volunteers, participants, and families who helped make this event such a success. Building positive relationships with the youth and families of Sumter County is an important part of our mission, and we appreciate every opportunity to connect with our community.

We hope everyone had a great time, and we look forward to seeing you again next year! 🎣☀️🚒🚓🚁

Sumter County Public Works woud like to inform residents and motorist of roadway improvements being conducted by Georgia DOT on Hwy 49 South.

Please use caution when traveling through construction zones and remember to slow down, watch for construction workers, equipment, and changing traffic patterns. Avoid distractions and allow extra travel time and be prepared for possible delays.
