Tuesday tidbit. While out at GSW today refreshing our familiarity of buildings in our response area we stumbled upon this great art piece. Artwork done by a student and displayed proudly. We think this is an amazing display of talent. Firefighter Fort was in the group today and posed for this great piece. Proud for the artist and as always we are proud to serve our community.

Take it way back Tuesday. The history of Americus Fire is rich with service and tradition. The photo captures our predecessors in service. We still stand to answer the call now just as we have for 133 years. We are proud to serve Americus. Since 1893 it’s been the “We” for the citizenry.

What have we been up to Wednesday? Over the past week you may have seen our crews out and about training during an Apparatus Operator Class. This class is a great prerequisite for upcoming Relief Drivers as well as future Apparatus Engineers. Training Captain Burns has painstakingly demonstrated and trained these students during class. The skill set learned during class will enhance service to our Citizens with efficiency, cost savings by preventative maintenance, and knowledge in operations. We continue to strive to be better everyday. We are proud of our ISO Class 1 designation and proudly serve our community with the best we have to offer. When we learn together we serve better.

Today we proudly celebrated the graduation of three of our newest recruits from fire recruit school! Family, friends, and department members gathered together for a special luncheon and graduation ceremony to recognize all of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community. We are excited to officially welcome them to the fire service family and look forward to watching them grow in their careers.

Americus Fire had the opportunity to participate in an inter-agency training alongside AmeriPro EMS Service, our local ambulance service. During the training, personnel from both agencies discussed equipment, daily operations, and response procedures while also taking part in a station tour to better understand how each agency functions and serves our community.
Trainings like these help strengthen communication, teamwork, and camaraderie between first responders who work side-by-side during emergencies every day. Building these relationships is an important part of providing the best possible service to the citizens we serve.
