🚒 Thank You Americus Fire Department! 👏
Safety is always our top priority.
This morning, City staff temporarily evacuated the building while the Americus Fire Department responded to evaluate the situation and ensure the facility was safe for everyone. After a thorough assessment, the building was cleared, allowing employees to safely return to work.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the men and women of the Americus Fire Department for their prompt response, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our employees and our community.
Their dedication reminds us that public safety is built on preparation, teamwork, and service.
Thank you, AFD, for all that you do to keep Americus safe every day.

Americus 101 is off to a great start!
We're excited to share highlights from the opening session of Americus 101, where participants came together to gain a behind-the-scenes look at how the City of Americus serves our community.
From engaging presentations to thoughtful discussions, the first session provided attendees with valuable insight into City operations, local government, and the dedicated employees who work each day to make Americus a great place to live, work, and grow.
Programs like Americus 101 help strengthen the connection between local government and the community by encouraging transparency, civic engagement, and meaningful dialogue.
Thank you to everyone who participated and to our City staff and community partners who helped make the kickoff session a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation throughout the remainder of the program and building even stronger relationships within our community.
Together, we're creating a more informed, engaged, and connected Americus.

Tonight's the night!

Join us in Downtown Americus for Americus Celebrates America, an evening of music, community, and an unforgettable drone show!

Here's the lineup:
• DJ starts at 5:30 PM
• Live music by The Essence Band begins at 7:00 PM
• The 15-minute synchronized drone show begins at dark

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, grab your family and friends, and come early to enjoy local vendors, great entertainment, and the best viewing from Rylander Park.

Make your evening even better with a Cocktail Caddy! Purchase one of our special to-go cups at participating downtown restaurants, then bring your favorite beverage with you as you enjoy the festivities in the designated event area.
