🇺🇸 A powerful reminder to never forget.

During the Kiwanis Club’s Service of Remembrance, City Manager Raphel D Maddox directed attention to a framed American flag with a special meaning: its stripes are made up of the names of the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

A meaningful tribute as our community continues to remember and honor those we lost 25 years ago.

🇺🇸 United in Remembrance

The City of Americus and Sumter County recently came together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, honoring the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the spirit of unity that followed.

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Lt. Col. Steve Stalvey, for sharing his firsthand experience of the attack on the Pentagon.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Ford Americus, Sumter County Schools, Magnolia Manor, and all of the community partners, leaders, participants, and attendees who helped make this remembrance possible.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We never forget. 🇺🇸

💧 WATER SERVICE UPDATE | W. CHURCH STREET

Earlier today, a water main was struck in the W. Church Street area, temporarily affecting water service. City crews responded and isolated the affected area.

Water service has now been restored.
