General information
Explorers are a group of high school students who are interested in becoming a part of the fire service. The explorer post is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America sponsored by the Amery Fire Department. They attend regular department meetings twice a month, and also a special training meeting just for the explorers. Explorers are taught the basic firefighting skills. The explorers are able to respond to calls but are limited to certain duties. Explorers perform duties such as: changing air bottles, setting up a rehab area, getting tools and equipment off of apparatus, assisting firefighters, etc. Explorers participate in department fundraisers and events such as the annual pancake breakfast, chilli feed, Fall Festival parade, fire prevention week, and fire department banquet.
