πŸ—οΈ Center Span Installation June 11-12 To Close Ferry & River Traffic⛴️

We’re hitting a key milestone in the bridge project! The morning of June 11, the center span will take its short trip downstream by barge until it aligns with the new sections, gets lifted into place, and connected.

🚫The channel and ferry will remain closed on June 11 and 12 to fully connect and inspect the span.

⛴️ The ferry will resume on June 13 at normal hours.

πŸ“With the ferry closure, motorists should follow the marked detour routes with the closest bridges at US 18 between McGregor, Iowa, and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; or at US 14 between La Crescent, Minnesota, and La Crosse, Wisconsin.

🚀 Recreational boat traffic will not be allowed to travel under the bridge during this closure. Boaters may still travel north or south away from the bridge outside of the project limits.

🚧 There are no planned highway or street closures, but ferry landings on both the Iowa and Wisconsin sides will be closed to vehicles.

🏠 There are no anticipated impacts to adjacent property owners.

πŸ“† If weather or other circumstances delay the center span installation, the alternate dates are set for June 18 and 19.

Thanks for helping keep this exciting process moving smoothly! See more details:

πŸš—πŸ…ΏοΈ Overflow Parking for Car Ferry Users Starts Tomorrow (May 29) ⛴️
To help manage summer traffic at the marina, Tiki Bar, and ferry, overflow parking will be available on Front Street along the marina.
🚧 Traffic Control (10 AM – 6 PM on Fri/Sat/Sun, holidays, and special events):
β€’ Flaggers will direct traffic in the overflow area.
β€’ When flaggers are not present, car ferry users should use the through lane.
🚦 Front Street Traffic Pattern:
β€’ Front St will be ONE WAY from the South Marina entrance to IA 26.
β€’ No access to Front St from IA 26.
β›” Marina Reminder:
β€’ No waiting behind the concrete barriers in the marina.
β€’ Do not block marina parking or through traffic.
πŸ“˜ See the graphic below for how the overflow system works.
Thanks for helping keep things moving smoothly!

πŸ¦… Memorial Day Ferry Service Update β›΄οΈβœ¨
**We need to make a correction to our earlier post.**
The ferry will NOT be closed on Memorial Day!
πŸ“£πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ THE FERRY WILL OPERATE ON MEMORIAL DAY ON A REDUCED SCHEDULE β€” 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ“£
We apologize for the confusion!
🚫 Important Traffic Reminder
Please do NOT line up in the marina behind the concrete barriers. There will be heavy marina and Tiki Bar traffic this weekend and throughout the summer, and blocking that area creates safety and congestion issues.
πŸ‘‰ Please follow all posted signs and be courteous and aware of marina and Tiki Bar traffic.
Stay safe, enjoy the long weekend, and take a moment to honor and remember those who served. β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

🌊 Ferry Service Update πŸš—β›΄οΈ
Due to low Mississippi River levels, our ferry must temporarily limit the number of vehicles it can carry. The ferry will continue running at reduced capacity until the river returns to more normal levels.
⏱️ This may mean longer wait times, so please plan ahead.
We truly appreciate your patience as we wait for Mother Nature to give the river a little boost. πŸŒ¦οΈπŸ’™

The goal is to meet in the middle β€” and the gap between the east and west sides of the new Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing is getting smaller every day! πŸŒ‰βœ¨
Right now, the space between the two sides is about 330 feet. Kraemer will keep building out the Wisconsin side another 110 feet before pausing. Crews have already started building the approximate 220-foot center of the bridge on barges just outside the Lansing marina. πŸš§πŸ›Ά
When it’s ready, the barges will be moved into place so the team can lift the center span and close the gap. And no worries β€” they are taking plenty of measurements to make sure everything lines up perfectly. πŸ“βœ”οΈ
If all goes well, we should see the two sides connect in June! πŸŽ‰
