Clarifying Information: We want to provide additional information regarding our recent post about approved swim goggles and apologize for not including the reasoning behind the policy initially.

For the safety of all guests, goggles or masks that cover the nose are not permitted – like many other communities. Full-face or nose-covering masks can create safety concerns because they may make it more difficult for lifeguards to recognize swimmer distress and are not designed for recreational pool use in the same way as standard swim goggles.

Additionally, goggles with tempered glass lenses are not allowed because if broken, the glass can shatter and create a serious safety hazard in and around the pool. This would result in immediate closure of the pool, as the pool would have to be drained, cleaned, inspected, refilled, and balanced.

Standard swim goggles designed specifically for aquatic recreation and lap swimming are permitted and encouraged.

Whether you agree or disagree, we appreciate the understanding and recognize that we could have communicated this information more clearly in our original post. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for all swimmers and guests.

All programs are scheduled to occur as planned for the remaining Opening Weekend schedule (Sunday, May 24 & Monday, May 25). Information regarding tube slides and drop slide closures:
In preparing to open Furman Aquatic Center for the season, an underground pump vault was flooded, inundating the pumps that operate the drop slide and the tube slides. Unfortunately, those slides will not be available this weekend as the pumps are still in the process of being repaired. Staff is working with a contractor to have the slides operational for next weekend. We regret this unfortunate situation and thank you for patience as we remediate the issue.

Parks and Recreation offers a variety of facilities including Auditorium, Bandshell, Ice Arena, Golf Course, Swimming Pools, and Community Center. Find ways to connect or check their daily calendars.

Due to flooded pumps, the drop slide and tube slides will not operate during open swim. Corrective action is being taken to repair pumps and updates will be provided when they are open.

*During 11am-1pm programming the Rec Pool will not open if temperatures at 1:00pm are below 75 degrees. Resulting in the cancellation of Tot Time. The Rec Pool is scheduled to be open during Open Swim.
