🌟 The Bridge Home move-out story!

Recently, one of our shelter guests secured housing! He stayed in our shelter for just under 60 days, but he utilized the ECC every day. He worked with our client advocate/case manager, Adreanna, to locate documents in Marshalltown and to help him contact his storage unit to discuss payment for his storage unit. She worked with him to apply for various apartments and to help him understand all his paperwork. Adreanna put in a lot of work ensuring that his needs were met. Robert, Risaun, and Ashley assisted him with moving last week into his place. Ashley made his bed and organized his items so he would have a good start. He was beyond thrilled to show us his new place and discuss the great amenities at his apartment complex.

The shelter’s benches in the back, dedicated to Vic Moss, had become worn and weathered over time. Wanting to bring them back to life, we saw the perfect opportunity when our longest-standing employee, Troy—who has worked at The Bridge Home for 29 years and worked alongside Vic—recently celebrated his birthday.

To honor him, Robert (our overnight staff) and Ashley (Director of Operations) gathered supplies to restore the benches. Over the weekend, Robert put in the work—cutting, staining, and completely rebuilding them.

We invited Troy to the shelter, and he was in awe!🧡
