Most recently, he has served our department for the last four years as a dispatcher and is now stepping into his new position as a police officer.

It was a busy weekend for the team at the Iowa State University Police Department, and we want to thank everyone who attended the many great Cyclone Welcome Weekend events. We enjoyed interacting with students, families, and community members throughout the weekend.

We are pleased to report that we did not have any issues at our sanctioned campus events. Thank you to everyone who helped make those activities safe, successful, and enjoyable.

Our officers remained busy with activity outside of the sanctioned campus events. Overall, we saw less problematic behavior and fewer large parties than in past years, although we continued to have contacts with a significant number of people from outside our community. Fifty percent of the people arrested or cited were not affiliated with Iowa State University.

This year, officers made 16 arrests, with 33 total people arrested, cited, or referred. There were no individuals taken by us to the hospital during the reporting period.

We also want to thank our partners at the City of Ames as we continue working together to welcome students back and emphasize all the great things our community has to offer.

Have a great first week of school, Cyclones! It is going to be a great week ahead!!

📊July 2026 Monthly Activity Report

Overall activity decreased in July 2026, with calls for service, arrests, new cases, and total charges filed all declining compared to July 2025. Traffic Stop/Enforcement activity increased significantly, reflecting a greater emphasis on proactive enforcement. Outreach successfully hosted 18 events, delivered 19.9 hours of training, and engaged 1,768 individuals, demonstrating a strong commitment to community education and outreach efforts.
