What a year!!
2025 has been an incredible year of transformation and encounters with God and people across all of our locations. Looking back one thing is clear, we couldn't have made this impact without YOU!

To all our volunteers, donors and business who are willing to partner with us in our mission- THANK YOU. You are the reason we are able to do what we do, and you are making real positive change right here in Ames, and for that we are so grateful!

We can't wait to see what the next year holds!

✨Story of Hope from our Ames Resource Center Team ✨
For a few months, we’ve been walking alongside Anne as she settled into housing and made Ames her new home. She’s a beloved member of the Ames Resource Center—kind, strong, resilient, and resourceful. We are so proud of her.

Anne often talked about plants and flowers from her past, so I invited her to Reiman Gardens at Iowa State. It was a beautiful day, and the gardens were still in full bloom. She lit up—sharing memories, pausing at flowers, and soaking it all in.

Near the end of our visit, Anne paused and looked right at me. She thanked me and shared something she hadn't told us yet. She was slowly losing her sight and fears she may not be able to enjoy this kind of beauty much longer. We cried together, and I felt so honored that she trusted me with her story.

Moments like this remind us why walking alongside our clients and truly seeing and loving them for who they are matters so much.

Well Works Participant Feature: Tristyn’s been caring for his family since he was just 13. After losing his dad at 10 and becoming a full-time caregiver to his mom and younger brother, Tristyn had to grow up fast. When his mom passed away last year, he was suddenly on his own — trying to finish school, find a job, and figure out adulthood.

That’s when he found The Well in Fairfield.

After coming to The Well, Tristyn graduated high school, got his first job at Well Works, and started building the stable future for himself that he had never had time to dream about.

“Being able to work here where I can make a few mistakes without losing my job… it’s been the best situation I could’ve asked for.”

Now, Tristyn is surrounded by a supportive community and is learning the life and work skills he needs to thrive.

Well Works Graduate Feature: After 25 years in addiction, Donna hit rock bottom—alone, in jail, and withdrawing from multiple drugs. In desperation, she tried to call a friend but ended up speaking to his mom instead. Not knowing what else to do, she asked for prayer.

“She said, absolutely. And she just prayed that I would have, you know, an encounter with God where he wrapped his loving arms around me and that I would have an experience so real that I would have no choice but to believe that God was there with me”

That prayer changed everything.

The next morning, Donna woke up transformed. God had met her at her lowest. She began reading the Bible, and rebuilding her life. She started making amends with her family, entered treatment, and this time, stayed. Shortly afterwards she started working at Well Works in Pella.

Today, Donna is two years sober, and a graduate from The Well Works program. She has returned to nursing and moved into a new home with her daughter.

“I'm not perfect, you know, and that's okay. I've learned to be gentle with myself. I've learned to repent (...) I've learned that here. The Well has been my foundation.”

A full version of Donna's story is available on the Well blog at: https://thewelliowa.org/donna/

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to partner with The Well as we walk alongside individuals who are overcoming hardship and working toward stability.

It takes a village, and your generosity provides vital support, from housing and utilities to transportation, programming, job skills, and connection. Every gift directly impacts someone in your community.

Together, we can offer help and hope while restoring dignity to our neighbors who live in the margins. Because communities transform one person at a time.

This Giving Tuesday, give where you live at: thewelliowa.org/donate/
