🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, the Amesbury Fire Department joins our community in honoring the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms, safety, and way of life we have today.

As families gather across the country this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and the families who continue to carry that loss each day.

We are proud to serve a community that never forgets the importance of service, sacrifice, and looking out for one another.

From all of us at the Amesbury Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸🚒

As EMS Week begins, we want to recognize the incredible work our EMS providers do every single day and reflect on how far our EMS division has come over the last year.

Because of the dedication and willingness of our members to embrace growth and change, we have continued expanding and improving the level of care we provide to our community. From enhancing our paramedic/basic service model, expanding EMS capabilities on our apparatus, upgrading equipment, and transitioning our ambulances to Medic Units, to working toward expanded protocols and advanced training opportunities — this department continues moving forward.

We are especially proud of the fact that we have continued making these improvements while remaining mindful of the financial challenges facing our city and taxpayers. Every step forward has been made with the best interests of our residents in mind, while continuing to focus on delivering high-quality emergency medical care to our community.

Training and education remain at the center of our mission, and we are proud to continue investing in the tools, equipment, and hands-on training necessary to provide exceptional patient care.

None of this progress happens without the hard work, professionalism, and commitment of the members of this department. Every member of our department — from firefighter to chief — is an EMS provider, and each plays an important role in delivering care to our community every day.

And to the public we serve: if you happen to see one of our members this week, they do not want or expect fanfare, but a simple “thank you” goes a long way and means more than most people realize.

Happy EMS Week 2026!

🌎 Happy Earth Day from Your Fire Department 🚒

Today is a reminder that protecting our community also means protecting the environment we all share.

As firefighters, our mission is life safety first—but we also recognize the impact our work can have on the world around us. From reducing unnecessary idling of apparatus, to being mindful of water usage at incidents and training, we are always looking for ways to operate more responsibly.

You may have heard conversations across the fire service about PFAS-free firefighting foams, gear, and more environmentally conscious equipment. These products are becoming more widely available, and our department continues to evaluate options that balance effectiveness with environmental responsibility.

Earth Day is about awareness, progress, and commitment. We’re proud to serve our community with an eye toward a safer, more sustainable future.

🌱 Small steps. Big impact.

Tonight, we had the honor of formally recognizing a major milestone in the careers of our newest Captains - leaders who were promoted on December 16, 2025, and who now step fully into their roles with the official pinning of their badges.

Captain Haynes, Captain Kane, Captain Bruno, and Captain Bean now serve as on-duty Shift Commanders, leading their crews from the front and carrying the responsibility of command each and every tour.

While the promotion date marked the beginning of their new responsibilities, tonight symbolized something deeper. It was a moment to stand in front of family, friends, and fellow members to publicly accept the weight of leadership, the responsibility to guide others, and the commitment to serve our community at the highest level.

The badge represents far more than rank—it stands for integrity, accountability, and the trust placed in them to lead from the front. Each of these members has earned this honor through dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the fire service.

Congratulations!
