📢 Back-to-School Health Reminder for Families
As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, some students will need updated vaccinations before the first day of school on August 12, 2026.

Students entering Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 12th Grade are required by Virginia law to have certain vaccinations on file before school begins.

💡 Why schedule early?
Doctor’s offices fill up quickly in late summer. Scheduling now helps you:
✔ Avoid the rush
✔ Ensure your child is ready for the first day of school
✔ Keep students healthy and ready to learn

If your child needs vaccinations, please contact your healthcare provider soon. Families without insurance may qualify for free vaccines through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.

📋 Remember to provide a copy of your child’s vaccination record to your school.

☀️🍎 School is out, but healthy meals are still on the menu! 🍎☀️
Amherst County Public Schools is proud to participate in the Summer Food Service Program. We will have meal pick-ups every Monday this summer starting June 8 at the following locations:
Coolwell Recreation Center: 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Tanglewood MHP: 11:45 am -12:15 pm
Scott Zion Baptist Church: 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Amherst Middle School (back parking lot): 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Parents/Guardians can pick up 7 days worth of meals (Breakfast and Lunch) every Monday. Children do not have to be present. All kids age 18 and younger are eligible.
Help us spread the word so every child in our community has access to nutritious meals while school is out! ❤️

🎓🐾 5th Grade Clap Out Celebration 🐾🎓

Today we celebrated a special milestone as we cheered on our amazing 5th graders during their Clap Out! Surrounded by teachers, staff, and students, our Wildcats took one final walk through the halls that have been their home for the past several years.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished, the friendships they have built, and the memories they have made at Central Elementary. As they move on to middle school, we know they will continue to learn, grow, and achieve great things.

Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat! 🐾💙

We had an amazing time celebrating with our 5th graders at their End-of-Year Bash today!

These students have worked incredibly hard all year, persevering through challenges, growing academically, and showing determination every step of the way. They truly amazed us with their outstanding SOL scores and have made us so proud!

It has been a joy to watch them learn, grow, and succeed. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful things they accomplish in the future. Congratulations, 5th graders—you’ve earned this celebration! ❤️🎉
