Congratulations to Dr. Caroline Attardo Genco on being named the next President of the University at Buffalo! 🎉

The partnership between Amherst and UB has helped drive innovation, opportunity, and economic growth throughout our community for decades. I am excited to work with President Genco as we continue building on that shared success and creating new opportunities for Amherst and Western New York.

Wishing President Genco all the best as she begins this new role. 👏

Caroline Attardo Genco, provost and senior vice president at Tufts University, has been named ’s 16th president, becoming the first woman and Buffalo native to lead the university. Her appointment was approved by the SUNY Board of Trustees Tuesday following an international search.

Today, June 1st, marks my sixth month serving as your Town Supervisor. These past six months have been incredibly busy and rewarding, from launching the Good Deeds initiative, which highlights the many positive actions and incredible people throughout the Town of Amherst, to modernizing Town processes and strengthening connections across our community.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and for the support I’ve received along the way. While we’ve accomplished a lot in a short time, there is still so much more ahead.

Thank you for trusting me to serve as your Supervisor. I’m looking forward to the next six months and continuing the work together. 👏

At this week’s Town Board meeting, I was honored to recognize Steven Barnas, an incredible young man whose kindness and positivity have made a lasting impact on the Sweet Home Central School District community.

Every morning, Steven arrives at Willow Ridge Elementary School to greet teachers, students, and buses as they arrive for the day. He has been doing this for years, and it was clear during this week’s meeting just how much his presence means to the entire school community.

Steven’s enthusiasm, consistency, and kindness brighten the mornings of so many people, and his actions are a reminder that even small gestures can have a tremendous impact.

1️⃣ 🧭🌙 Amherst Youth & Recreation is hosting a Night Geocaching Adventure tonight, May 29, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Walton Woods Park. This free family event is sure to be a great time!

2️⃣ 💃🎶 Buffalo & Erie County Public Library - Amherst Libraries is hosting a Bollywood Dance Class taught by Gaitrie Subryan, founder and dance instructor at Devi Performing Arts. The class takes place tomorrow, Saturday, May 30, at 2:00 PM at the Honorable Shirley Chisholm Library. Please call (716) 689-4922 to reserve your spot.

3️⃣ 🌸🐝 Members of the Village of Williamsville Beautification Committee will be handing out free zinnia seeds and growing instructions at the farmers market tomorrow, Saturday, May 30. Their tent will be located in front of the library. Zinnias help feed our bees and butterflies. 🦋

The Town of Amherst is fortunate to have so many incredible nurses serving our community every day. ❤️

At this week’s Town Board meeting, we were honored to welcome Ashley Rich, RN, BSN, Janine Lumia, RN, and Kelly Francis, RN, three outstanding nurses from Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

During National Nurses Month, we recognize the compassion, professionalism, and dedication nurses bring to their patients and families each and every day. We were proud to recently light Town Hall in red in recognition of all nurses throughout our community.

Thank you to Ashley, Janine, Kelly, and all nurses for the extraordinary care and support you provide to the Town of Amherst and beyond. 👏
