Tonight 2 NAFC members (FFs Busch/Puleo) completed their driver training (engines 1 and 2). New prospective NAFC driver/operators need to complete a task book prior to being cleared as driver/operators
This includes:

- Basic driving time

- Pump panel fundamentals

- Apparatus equipment knowledge and operation

- Several final evolutions

Pictured is just one of the final evolutions our driver/operators train on, which includes basic hose line pumping to long driveway and relay pumping scenarios. NAFC takes training seriously, because we need to be ready when called upon.

This evening NAFC hosted its 3rd annual hose line hockey drill with Wendelville Fire Company. Similar to traditional “waterball”, 2 teams square off against one another but instead battle to put a large hockey puck in the other teams goal. While this drill is fun and a break from our regular (and more intense) training, it does allow members to get their hands on a hose line and practice some advancement and nozzle holding techniques. Thanks to all that attended, I know we had a blast!

NAFC has a crew standing by and covering the Main-Transit Fire Department district while they work their annual Slo-Pokes drill team races. Come out and support our brothers and sisters to the southeast!

This evening NAFC and Wendelville Fire Company once again trained together. The evening started with a debrief of their recent fire. Debriefs are a fantastic tool in order to discuss what went well, what could have been done better, and how we can improve in future operations and tactics.

Following the debrief, both companies practiced relay pumping. In this scenario, an extended lay was simulated with a hydrant (source) pumper and a relay pumper, which in turn fed an aerial device and a deck gun. Units were able to flow approximately 1500-2000 gallons per minute through the relay off of a single hydrant. Nice work by all!

This evening NAFC practiced drafting operations. Drafting may be needed when positive pressure water sources are not available or in supplement to hydrant water. Members also practiced relay pumping and foam eductor use

NAFC sent 2 firefighters to the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) Conference in Syracuse this weekend. Assistant Chief Rozbicki and Captain Burow attended the conference and also participated in thermal imaging camera HOT training. Both attendees will bring valuable knowledge and skills back to our membership. In addition, attendees were able to work with firefighters from a multitude of other companies throughout New York State. Special shoutout to Snyder Fire Department and Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company who also had members in the class.

This evening NAFC trained/refreshed on FAST skills. A FAST team (Firefighter Assist and Search team) is tasked solely with rescuing downed firefighters should the need arise. NAFC maintains a practicing FAST team with FAST equipment and training, whether it be for a brother/sister from a neighboring agency or one of our own members.
