Yesterday, Amherst Tanker, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Forestry 1, Forestry 2 and Ambulance 1, along with Chief Waldron and Deputy Chief Hevey, responded to a large wind-driven brush fire in town.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, the fire was brought under control after 4 hours. There was minor damage to a shed and one vehicle was lost, but fortunately no injuries of civilians or firefighters were reported.
We would like to thank Milford Fire Department, Nashua Fire Rescue, Bedford Fire Department, NH, Wilton Fire Department, Manchester Fire Department, Mont Vernon, NH Fire Department, Lyndeborough NH Fire Department, Brookline Fire Department - NH, Litchfield Fire Rescue, Merrimack Fire Rescue, Dunstable Mass FD, Pepperell Fire Department, Amherst Police Department, American Red Cross, and the New Hampshire Department of Forests and Lands for their mutual aid response and assistance on scene.
The strong partnerships and teamwork between our surrounding communities continue to play a vital role in helping keep the residents, visitors, and properties of our region safe.
