Central Elementary DARE Program

Preparing students for success means helping them make positive choices both inside and outside the classroom. All ACPS 4th Graders participate in the D.A.R.E. program.

This year Central ES students learned valuable lessons about making safe, healthy, and responsible decisions. Through the guidance of local law enforcement partners, students gained skills and knowledge that will benefit them for years to come.

Thank you to all of our SROs, the Amherst County Sheriff’s Department, and all who helped make this experience possible.

Amelon ES Donuts with Dudes

Strong schools are built on strong relationships. Amelon Elementary welcomed dads, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, and other important role models for its popular Donuts with Dudes event. Students enjoyed a morning of fellowship, encouragement, and connection, made even more special by the participation of student-athletes from Liberty University and Virginia University of Lynchburg.

Events like this help strengthen school-family partnerships and create lasting memories for our students.

ACPS Technology - Network Upgrades
Great learning depends on a strong foundation - and sometimes that foundation is invisible.
This year, ACPS successfully secured $407,000 in federal funding to support critical technology infrastructure improvements. These investments will modernize network systems, strengthen cybersecurity protections, and help ensure reliable digital access for students and staff across the division.
This achievement reflects the important behind-the-scenes work that helps keep teaching, learning, and operations running smoothly every day.

Special School Board Meeting📣
The Amherst County School Board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to consider and act on the appointment and contract of the division's next superintendent. The meeting will be held in the Public Meeting Room of the School Administration Office, at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the meeting, the Board will host a public meet and greet, giving families, staff, community members, and the media a chance to welcome the incoming superintendent. AMS Sci-Kids

Learning is at its best when curiosity leads the way. Throughout the year, Amherst Middle School students participated in hands-on Sci-Kids experiences alongside members of Liberty University's Scientific Research Society. From exploring forensic science and fingerprint analysis to experimenting with Oobleck and natural pH indicators, students engaged in real-world science that sparked creativity and critical thinking.

Thank you to our Liberty University partners and AMS staff for helping make science come alive for our students.

AEC Brag Day

Every student has something to celebrate! This year, Amherst Education Center hosted its first-ever BRAG Day, welcoming families into the building to experience the incredible learning taking place in every classroom. A highlight of the event was the Brag Board, where every student was recognized with positive comments celebrating their strengths, talents, and achievements.

The event reflected AEC's commitment to building confidence, celebrating growth, and creating meaningful connections with families.
