💧 Drought conditions continue across much of Massachusetts.

During May, most of the state received just 1–3 inches of rain—up to 3 inches below normal. Rivers and streams throughout the region remain below normal levels, a sign that groundwater supplies continue to decline.

As we head into summer, conserving water is more important than ever. Limiting outdoor watering and using water wisely can help protect local water supplies, streams, and ecosystems.

Looking for ways to conserve water or learn more about current drought conditions? Additional information, including drought FAQs, water conservation guidance, and resources for private well owners, is available on the Mass.gov website!
