Slope County Veterans Service Office - Amidon, ND Our goal is to ensure that every veteran in the county receives every benefit they are entitled to. Slope County is home to over 90 veterans.

Our goal is to ensure that every veteran in the county receives every benefit to which he or she may be entitled from the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), other agencies, and the State of North Dakota. We are your local resource for dedicated and professional assistance in obtaining federal and state veterans' benefits. We provide the expertise and advocacy that veterans need to optimize ac

cess to benefit programs. We handle inquires and applications regarding veterans' health care, compensation, pension, long-term care and other benefits for veterans of all ages. Burial benefit assistance is provided to the survivors of veterans. Widows and widowers of veterans are eligible for some state benefits, and in limited cases, federal benefits. We are here to assist them as well. Most of the programs veterans utilize are offered through the US Department of Veterans Affairs or the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs. We are in contact with these agencies on a regular basis. We work with the National Service Officers of various veterans' organizations when filing VA benefit claims. We also interact with several other county, state and federal government agencies that provide resources or assistance to veterans. These services are provided at NO CHARGE to veterans and their dependents. We follow a strict Code of Ethics to ensure your privacy and give you peace of mind.

This Memorial Day, we invite our community to come together in remembrance and gratitude for the brave servicemembers who gave their lives in defense of our nation and our freedoms.

Please join the American Legion Post 48 - Bowman, ND for a special community gathering as we honor the fallen, reflect on their sacrifice, and stand united in support of our veterans, military families, and one another.

Honoring Veterans: PFC. Harold Edward Berg Jr

Harold Edward Berg was born September 5, 1947 in Rhame, ND. Harold enlisted in the United States Army in Fargo, ND on January 6, 1966. Harold served in the 1st Cav Division, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, B Company. Harold was Killed in Action in the Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam on February 3, 1967. Harold was 19 years old.

Harold is buried at the Mound Cemetery in Slope County. Harold's name appears on panel 14E, Line 110 of the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. His military service earned him a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

Throughout May, we recognize and honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces — active duty, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, and military families — for their sacrifice, courage, and unwavering commitment to our country.

As we move through the second half of the month, there is still so much ahead as we continue recognizing the heroes who protect our freedoms every day. From Armed Forces Day to Memorial Day and beyond, we remain committed to honoring service, sacrifice, and patriotism in our community.
