We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own!

Congratulations to Alexys Pearre, a valued member of the Amissville Volunteer Fire & Rescue family, on this remarkable achievement.

Alexys recently completed the Rappahannock County Public Safety Course, where she successfully earned a professional certification in 9-1-1 Emergency Communications through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). Even more exciting, she has been hired by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center and will begin her career in mid-August.

This innovative program, a partnership between the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office and Rappahannock County Public Schools, is believed to be the first 9-1-1 Emergency Communications course ever taught in a Virginia high school. Alexys is the very first student from the program to be hired by the Sheriff’s Office—a milestone for both her and our community.

Emergency dispatchers are the calm voice on the other end of the phone, providing lifesaving assistance and coordinating emergency responders when seconds matter. We know Alexys will make an outstanding Communications Officer, and we are proud to see her passion for serving others continue in this important role.

On Tuesday evening, a barn fire in Amissville brought together the dedicated volunteers of Amissville Volunteer Fire & Rescue, along with many surrounding fire companies, to battle the blaze.

A heartfelt thank you to every firefighter, EMT, and volunteer who responded. Your commitment, teamwork, and willingness to answer the call—no matter the hour—do not go unnoticed. Our community is truly blessed to have such dedicated men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and for all you do to keep our community safe. ❤️🚒

Training never stops at Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue! 🚒🛠️

Today, several of our members participated in hands-on fire training focused on familiarizing crews with new equipment and inspecting and refreshing skills on older tools already in service. Staying sharp and prepared means knowing our tools inside and out — so when the call comes, we’re ready to respond safely and efficiently.

We’re proud of the dedication our volunteers continue to show through ongoing training and teamwork. Thank you to everyone who gives their time to better serve our community!
