Come to the Bay Village Civic Association's Amityville Farmer's Market at 25 Broadway tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to shop the great assortment of fresh items. Please bring along pantry items to help restock the shelves at the Coalition for the Homeless in Amityville through this drive!

THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 8TH, 9 AM - 1 PM there will be a collection box for The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless at The Market. Please, please, pretty, pretty please, give whatever you can to help support those in need. We recognize times are tight, but if you have a safe, clean place to lay your head and food on your table to share with Friends and Family, you are indeed blessed. If you are able, please share with our Neighbors who don’t enjoy the same blessings right now. Amityville and the surrounding Villages are phenomenal, generous, strong Communities - let’s share that spirit! We are planning a collection each month, anything you can donate from The Coalition’s list is deeply appreciated. The Community showed up STRONG last year - let’s try to top that this year! Thank you so much, Friends!!

Congratulations to our Village Beach Program Swimmers and Sailors who earned Awards for excellence and participation. In addition to their regular instruction, the program offered youngsters the chance to compete in Triathalons and the annual sailing regatta at Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club. Among those staff who stood out this year were several lifeguards who responded admirably to an emergency situation involving an overturned jet ski off the beach jetty.
Mayor O'Neill and all the Village Trustees assisted in the presentation of awards which was led by Beach Manager Terrylynn Bayon, as the families looked on proudly. Thanks to our terrific beach staff and the community for keeping this summer tradition going for so many decades!

Suffolk County Health Department will begin the annual rabies control program with baiting to take place in the Village beginning on August 31st, occurring Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Baiting with packets like those pictured is expected to be completed within three weeks. Department staff will toss bait sachets (the size of a ketchup packet) containing rabies vaccine by hand from slow-moving, marked county vehicles into sumps, storm drains, woods, shrubs and hedges in residential areas, and any other locations that may be frequented by raccoons. No disruption to businesses or residents will occur during bait distribution. Baits are designed to primarily attract raccoons and are not harmful to humans or pets. Additional information on the ORV bait distribution program is posted on the Department's website and may be accessed using the following link: https://suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/Health-Services/Diseases-and-Illness/Report-Animal-Bites/Raccoon-Rabies-Control-Program
