Saturday June 13, join the Amsterdam Free Library for Hidden Stories of Downtown Amsterdam, a historical walking tour of downtown Amsterdam. Explore the stories that didn’t make the history books—crimes, scandals, and secrets from Amsterdam’s past. As we walk through downtown, you’ll stand in the very locations where these events unfolded and hear the stories people once whispered about.

Your guide, Audrey Egelston, is the creator of Scandal & Spirits, a popular storytelling series dedicated to uncovering the stories that didn’t quite make the history books—and are far too good to forget.

The walk will depart at 10am, last approximately two hours, and start and end at the library. This program counts as participation in our Adult Summer Reading Program.

Join Consumer Advocates from National Grid will be at the Amsterdam Free Library Next Tuesday June 2 from 10am - 12pm for a Customer Service Event. They will be able to discuss options to help manage your energy bill and find assistance if needed, including the Energy Affordability Program (EAP,) payment and budget plans, and special protections.

No appointments are necessary- but please bring information on any other assistance you may already receive.

The following regularly scheduled Amsterdam Free Library children's programs will be on PAUSE until September to allow for preparation and implementation of the Summer Reading Program:

Join us for Kids Yoga on Saturday May 30th at 12 noon. Courtney Ortiz, certified yoga instructor, will lead kids in gentle yoga, a story, and related activities. This program is open to all, but best suited for kids age 4-10. Registration is preferred, but not required.

Please note, this will be the last Kids Yoga session until September. This program takes place in the Children's Department. There is currently no elevator access to the second floor.

Join the Otherworlds Book Club for their next book discussion Sunday, June 7 at 1pm. The group will be discussing Cinder by Marissa Meyer.

Cinder is the first book in a young adult sci-fi series that reimagines classic fairy tales in a futuristic setting. We will meet Linh Cinder, a gifted cyborg mechanic in New Beijing, whose life is changed forever when she meets Prince Kai in the plague-ridden streets of New Beijing, and becomes entangled in a web of evil schemes and deceit.
