"The Beauty of the 'in-between'"

Our hallways are finding their new voice. We are weaving together the raw elegance of Montana and the soulful discipline of the Arts and Crafts Movement - where every shadow and every grain of wood tells a story of intentionality.

We call it Noble Nature: an aesthetic that finds dignity in the natural and heart in the hand made. No longer just a path, but a place to pause, breathe, and find your center.

The world moves in fast-forward just beyond the glass - a blur of dancing fountains and the hum of the thoroughfare. But inside these walls, time has lost its clock.
There is a profound peace in being a witness to the world while anchored in the ancient. Nourishing the soul with a warm scone, a cup of tea that tastes like stillness, and the rare gift of a morning that refuses to hurry. Some places don't just house you; they hold you.

We invite you to step out of the rush and into our story. Come stay with us at our historic inn, where the tea is warm and time stands still just for you. Your seat by the window is waiting. ✨️⛲️

Today I want to tell the story about these luggage pieces.
I recently picked these up from a gentleman in Dillion. He pulled them out of the attic, covered in dust and with a story.
They belonged to Alice Peterson who was married to Ellsworth Cragholm. There is an embossed P by the handles. The tag on the luggage still reads Ellsworth from 1930s.

The Peterson's were longtime residents of Dillion area, owning two ranches that spanned wide and far across the wilderness outside of Dillion. The ranches were eventually split between the children due to unfortunate turn of events that befell the father, John Peterson (a story to come in another issue of our History). These pieces of luggage came out of the town home used to conduct business for the ranches so people didn't have to travel so far out of town to the ranch home that was 20 miles of rough road.

It was wonderful hearing the history from Brian about the family that these treasures belonged too. I got a couple other pieces from him that I will share down the road.

These pieces sit at the entry to the Hickory House Inn. They are a reminder to come in and stay for a while. A reminder to take a moments and enjoy moments from the past and present. To etch now into future lifetimes where your stories may still be told.
