We join the world in sadness over the passing of Dolly Parton, a beloved American icon.

We are grateful for Dolly’s ties to Anaheim, where she played shows at Honda Center in 2004 and at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena in 1977 with fellow country great Mac Davis, both pictured here.

We are honored to have played even a small part in the Dolly story.

There's no heat relief in sight with the highest forecasted temps so far this year in the days ahead.

Expect more days in the high 90s with Wednesday through Friday the hottest with peak temps at 100-plus.

It will continue to be hot across our city with, as usual, the highest temps in the east.

Take precaution, particularly with seniors, babies, pets and others sensitive to heat and prepare for heat at home and while out.

In east Anaheim, this is not a wind-driven red flag event, but wildfire risk is always with us. Don't use firepits, use extreme caution with outdoor barbecues and avoid any other open flames. It's good to put off gardening or other work that can inadvertently generate sparks and avoid driving on any vegetation.

Follow best practices to keep your home as cool as possible and while outdoors.

If you need a place to stay cool, visit one of our many library branches or community centers.

See Anaheim.net/heat for tips around your home and more.

Plan for busier than usual through the weekend around the Anaheim Convention Center, the theme parks, Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

D23 Expo, which returns to Anaheim every two years, takes place at the convention center Friday through Sunday.

The fan event draws thousands to celebrate all things Disney with a weekend of presentations, panels, performances and more at the convention center, Honda Center, Angel Stadium and the theme parks.

Thursday is D23 Day at Disneyland.

Honda Center sees D23 panels and other events Friday through Sunday.

At Angel Stadium, the Angels host the Texas Rangers on Wednesday for D23 Night at the Big A. The Angels also play a weekend series against the Kansas City Royals — not part of D23 — but note for activity in the area.

If you're not attending any of the events, plan for more traffic and people out and about in and around the convention center and near the venues alongside the 57 Freeway. For your convenience, consider alternate routes.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and welcome all who are visiting.

Visitor spending at our hotels, theme parks and venues brings revenue we use to fund libraries, police and firefighters, community centers and other services for our residents and neighborhoods.

We're feeling the heat this weekend with temperatures climbing into the 90s and "feels like" readings even higher.

It is hot across our city with, as usual, the highest temps in the east.

Take precaution, particularly with seniors, babies, pets and others sensitive to heat and be mindful of the heat at home and while out.

Call it a carousel of progress with this look back at Disneyland’s opening day 71 years ago today with these vintage and more recent images through the years.

The theme park’s July 17, 1955, opening was a milestone for Anaheim and Walt Disney’s vision of a place of fun for families, kids and kids at heart.

Swipe for pics of opening day attractions, Walt with his grandson and other time capsule moments.

There’s the Carousel of Progress, which ran at the park from 1967 to 1973. And anybody recognize the multicolor snowflake? Shout out in the comments.

Then there’s contemporary captures of Cars Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, kiddie fav “Bluey's Best Day Ever!” and current construction on a “Coco” attraction with Incredicoaster in the background.

This year’s anniversary coincides with a ticket offer for Anaheim residents.

Anaheim tickets went on sale Thursday and are good for visits starting Monday through Oct. 8.

The tickets honor the shared history of Disneyland and Anaheim, with our city’s birthday on Oct. 5, 1857.

For Anaheim resident tickets, a one-day, one-park ticket is $71, and a one-day park hopper is $104.

You can also combine it with a special $50 kids ticket for kiddos ages 3 to 9.

Park reservations are required.

This offer is through Disneyland, so reach out to the park with questions on details and specifics or visit https://bit.ly/4vY2dyY.

Prepare for a hot week with peak temperatures Wednesday at 90-plus and mugginess and thunderstorm chances as the remnants of a monsoonal storm make their way through our area.

It will be hot in Anaheim, though the highest temps you'll hear about will be east of us.

Other than being hot and muggy, we're not expecting any major issues. As always, give some thought to seniors, babies, pets and others sensitive to heat and be mindful of the warm temperatures at home and while out.

See more at Anaheim.net/heat.

This is not a wind event, but wildfire risk is always with us in the east. Always follow best practices. Learn more at Anaheim.net/beready.
