The Magnolia School District proudly celebrates Mrs. Brittany Walters, Kindergarten Teacher at Dr. Peter Marshall Elementary, for being named one of six Orange County Teacher of the Year finalists advancing to the State level.
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Mrs. Walters was surprised with the announcement in her classroom by staff from the Orange County Department of Education, along with her family, school, and District staff. The celebration reflected not only her achievement, but also the powerful impact she makes in the lives of her students each day.
With 17 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Walters exemplifies excellence through high expectations, strong academic instruction, and a deeply student-centered approach. In her classroom, learning is guided by careful observation, responsiveness, and a strong understanding of each child’s academic and social-emotional needs. She creates a space where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Her commitment to the “whole child” is seen in her daily interactions and lasting relationships. Through individualized support, meaningful check-ins, and opportunities for students to collaborate and express themselves, Mrs. Walters builds a classroom culture rooted in belonging, confidence, and joy.
She is also intentional in creating inclusive and culturally responsive learning experiences. By partnering with families and providing hands-on opportunities, including the Disney Musicals in Schools program, she helps students build confidence, collaboration, and student voice.
Selected as one of only six teachers from approximately 22,000 educators across Orange County, Mrs. Walters represents the very best of the teaching profession. As Principal Alma Guzman shared, “What ultimately sets Mrs. Walters apart is her consistency and passion. The enthusiasm she brings in August remains in June. She shows up fully for students every day.”
Mrs. Walters will now represent Orange County in the California Teacher of the Year program. Magnolia School District extends heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Walters for the care, dedication, and joy she brings to her students and community each day.
