Unlimited You Series: Sycamore Legacy Mural

We’re excited to launch the Unlimited You Series, a new districtwide storytelling series celebrating the students, staff, alumni, families, and community members who make AUHSD extraordinary. Through authentic stories of character, perseverance, kindness, leadership, creativity, and impact, the series will also highlight the people and opportunities within AUHSD that help shape each journey.

Our pilot episode brings the series full circle at Sycamore Junior High School, where alumnus and artist Oliver Cortez Velasquez joins fellow Sycamore alum and AUHSD Board President Jessica Guerrero to share the story and meaning behind the Sycamore Legacy Mural—a vibrant reflection of the school community’s past, present, and future. The episode was created by Ronnie Galang, also a Sycamore alumnus, making this first story a fitting celebration of legacy, community, and the Unlimited potential of our students long after they leave our schools.

The Miss Anaheim Beautiful Scholarship Program is now seeking applicants for its 2026–2027 Teen Ambassador Court! Eligible AUHSD students in grades 9–12 are encouraged to apply for this yearlong leadership experience, with opportunities for community service, personal growth, scholarships, and more.

Superintendent’s Monthly Video | August 2026

We’re excited to share the first Superintendent’s Monthly Video of the 2026–27 school year, featuring Superintendent Dr. Jaron Fried as he visits Anaheim High School to welcome students, staff, families, and the community back for a brand-new year. The episode highlights Anaheim High School’s rich tradition while showcasing the opportunities that define Anaheim Union today—from innovative academic and career pathways to the arts, athletics, Community Schools, and student leadership.

This August Welcome Back Edition also celebrates the excitement of a new school year, summer learning opportunities through programs like AIME and the Summer Arts Academy, the beginning of the fall athletics season, Back-to-School Nights, and the start of Chicano/Chicana Herit​age Month across AUHSD. At its core, the episode encourages every student to discover their interests, embrace new opportunities, and make the most of the year ahead.

A special thank-you to the Anaheim High School students, staff, and administration for their outstanding hospitality and partnership in bringing this episode to life.

Board President Jessica Guerrero and Gilbert HS Principal Jose Lara presented at the California Association of Latino Leaders in Education (CALLE) Conference, sharing the transformational work happening in alternative education in AUHSD.

Their presentation highlighted shifting alternative education from a deficit-based model to an asset-based Community Schools model leveraging the strengths, voices, and resources of students and their communities to create environments where every student can thrive. 🌟

In support of our upcoming College and Career Fair, we are thrilled to announce that the South Junior High School counseling department will host a Career Day on October 16, 2026. This event is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the diverse careers of our parents and community members, and we need your help to make it a success!

We are looking for volunteers to speak with our students about their careers, share their educational and professional journeys, and expose students to the many opportunities available after high school. Whether you are available for one class period (approximately 45 minutes) or for multiple periods throughout the school day, we would love to have you participate.

Presenters will have the opportunity to share:
What they do in their career
Their educational and career pathway
Skills and experiences that helped them succeed
Advice for students interested in similar fields
