Last week, six members from NCC Fire joined several Southern California fire agencies in Anaheim for Machinery Rescue Technician training. This class, put on by , focused on techniques for removing victims trapped in various machinery, unusual vehicle situations or everyday objects. These techniques can be used for incidents ranging from vehicle accidents to large scale industrial incidents. NCC Fire would like to thank and for hosting the class.

This is a five day (40 hour) course. Structural Collapse Specialist 1 (SCS1) meets NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications levels of Awareness and Operations. Key topics that will be covered: Establishing a plan and requesting appropriate resources, search practices and techniques, building shoring and stabilization, breaching light weight building and unreinforced masonry (URM) construction, accessing hazards related to building collapse, lifting and moving heavy objects, simulated rescue scenarios.
