About 126 lawmakers signed on to a letter Monday condemning the recently established, bicameral so-called "Sharia-Free America Caucus" – saying the xenophobic group and its proposed legislation "reflects longstanding Islamophobic narratives and anti-Muslim sentiment rather than any demonstrated policy need."

The lawmakers and civil rights activists said the "hateful caucus" – in which some members have described Muslims in dehumanizing terms – promotes measures that discriminate against the Muslim community and would violate their free speech and religious rights.

Whether it's immigration, government spending, or attacks on dissent, we're going to hold those in power accountable. Membership helps us keep asking difficult questions and following the answers wherever they lead.

“At a time when we see the rise in hate and ignorance, the only way we can respond to it is through education, through embracing, allowing people to know each other and appreciate each other.”

On Saturday, June 6, CAIR-LA and the Indonesian Consulate in LA hosted the second annual Global Muslim Village.

The event brought together more than 1,200 community members, dignitaries, consulate representatives, and vendors to celebrate the rich diversity of the Muslim community.

Watch: CAIR-LA’s Hussam Ayloush Explains Why Israel Has No Interest in Peace

“Israel has not kept its word, whether it’s about a ceasefire in Gaza or a ceasefire in Lebanon. Because, quite frankly, the cost of making or waging war and committing war crimes is way more bearable than the cost or the price for peace. The price for peace means Israel has to deal with the occupation, has to address the illegal settlements, the hundreds of illegal settlements across the West Bank occupied by Israel.”

In a recent interview with TRT World, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush explains why Israel has no interest in genuine peace in the region and discusses how unconditional U.S. political support enables Israel's repeated ceasefire violations in Gaza and Lebanon.

Dr Hatem Bazian, a leading Islamophobia scholar and UC Berkeley lecturer, described the current period as a shift in degree rather than kind.

Anti-Muslim hostility, he argued, had long operated as an external force, visible in foreign policy and military intervention. What had changed was its domestic direction.

"Islamophobia has turned decisively deadly in the Western landscape," he said, situating the San Diego attack within a broader pattern of intensifying hostility toward Muslim communities inside Western countries.

After the Islamic Center of San Diego shooting, the community is left to process grief, fear, and growing concerns about Islamophobia and institutional failure
