Our Autism Focus group blends big academic goals with real-world experiences! Students build emotional regulation, communication, and daily life skills while gaining confidence to thrive beyond the classroom. From curriculum-based community outings to serving up smiles at our student-run coffee cart ☕️, our students are learning, growing, and building meaningful friendships with their same-age peers.

The 9th Annual Nanovation Competition, hosted by UCLA’s California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), brought together middle and high school teams from across California. Students developed nanoscience-based products designed to address real-world challenges, working alongside teacher leaders and UCLA graduate student mentors

The competition was judged by UCLA professors and Los Angeles business professionals, with the top three teams receiving classroom supplies: $2,000 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd, and $500 for 3rd.

🥉 South Jr. High is making history! Our students represented Anaheim at the 2026 Nanovation Competition, competing against 11 teams from across California.🔬☀️🏆 HUGE shoutout to science teacher Linh Ho and her incredible Nano Team for earning 3rd Place at the UCLA California NanoSystems Institute’s Nanovation Competition! As the competition’s youngest team, these future innovators impressed judges with their science-based solution, Thermiovex, a concept designed to help reduce campus heat using nanotechnology.

Their innovative Solar Universe project showcased creativity, teamwork, and STEM excellence. We are incredibly proud! 🦅💙

Dear South Junior High Families,

We are excited to welcome our Eagles back for the 2026–2027 school year!

Please plan to attend Registration on your student’s assigned date between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Registration is an important step in preparing for the new school year. During your visit, students will:
Purchase school and PE uniforms
Pick up their textbooks
Receive their Chromebook
Take their student ID picture
Please attend on the date listed for your student’s grade and last name:

📅 July 28: 8th Grade
📅 July 29: 7th Grade (Last Names A–L)
📅 July 30: 7th Grade (Last Names M–Z)
📅 July 31: Make-Up Day (7th & 8th Grade)

Reminder: If you have not yet completed your Aeries Data Confirmation, please do so before your registration day. Completing it in advance will help make your registration process much faster. Families who have not completed Data Confirmation will need to do so before registering, which may result in a longer wait.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to campus! The first day of school is Wednesday, August 12.

Hello South JHS Families,

We are excited to share a great opportunity for our incoming 7th grade students! The YMCA is offering JumpStart, a FREE one-day orientation program designed to help students transition successfully into junior high school.

During JumpStart, students will:
✅ Tour the South JHS campus
✅ Learn important school rules and expectations
✅ Meet school staff, teachers, and YMCA team members
✅ Make new friends and participate in fun activities
✅ Gain tips and strategies for a successful school year

Students only need to attend ONE session:
📅 Wednesday, August 5, 2026
📅 Thursday, August 6, 2026
📅 Friday, August 7, 2026

⏰ Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Location: South Junior High School
