Breezy weather will continue today, with mostly sunny skies except for northwest Illinois which may see partly to mostly cloudy skies. HIghs in the lower 70s will be expected, except for the mid 60s in northwest Illinois. Thursday will begin a warm up, along with active weather for the rest of the late week. Some overnight storms could be strong after midnight, followed by frequent thunderstorm chances Friday night through Sunday. Some storms could be strong to severe over the weekend.

Warm conditions Monday with strong to severe storms possible ahead of another cold front. After the cold front, it will turn much cooler the remainder of the week.

Warm temperatures and an increase in low level moisture ahead of a cold front will bring the risk of isolated strong to severe storms Monday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and hail look to be the primary risks.

While thunderstorm activity has been limited this afternoon due to dry air, this is changing around the I-380 corridor and Highway 20 in Iowa this evening. While these storms are not expected to be severe, lightning, small hail, and gusty winds are still possible.
