May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Revenue generated from Trust lands supports the Trust's annual grantmaking program, helping to fund behavioral health services for Trust beneficiaries across Alaska.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act, and helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, and like physical health conditions, mental health conditions can be addressed through diagnosis, treatment, and other supports.

One of the most unique is the five-year Big Game Guide Permit Program that allows qualified guides to operate commercial hunts on large tracts of Trust land – with only one exclusive permit for each tract. Applicants are required to meet established qualifications, as well as illustrate a history of land stewardship and conservation and have an operations plan, a safety and emergency preparedness plan, and be in good standing with the Trust Land Office.

The Trust Land Office’s Competitive Leasing Program offers the opportunity to lease large, scenic tracts of Trust land that have not previously been offered for sale or lease. From the Chena Hot Springs area to Safety Cove near Ketchikan, these choice parcels are selected due to their potential for commercial or recreational land use.

By leasing these Trust lands, we generate vital revenue that supports programs for Trust beneficiaries across Alaska, including those experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries.

When you purchase a parcel through the Trust Land Office’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) Land Sale, you’re doing more than just investing in Alaska land. You’re helping fund programs and services that improve the lives of Trust beneficiaries across the state.

Revenue from these year-round sales is a cornerstone of the Trust’s ability to support Alaskans who experience mental illness, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and more. We’ve recently updated our OTC inventory with new parcels available now at a fixed price.
