Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1966 as Headquarters and Main Support Company, 7th Maintenance Battalion. Inactivated 25 June 1971 in Thailand. Redesignated 16 October 1986 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 7th Maintenance Battalion, and activated at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Reorganized and redesignated 16 October 1989 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company 7th Maintenance Battalion. Reorganized and redesignated 16 October 1993 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 7th Corps Support Battalion. In July 2006, the 17th Corps Support Battalion was reorganized at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Description/Blazon
A gold metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold Burmese lion on a gold pedestal in front of a gold wheel on a red disc. In base a gold scroll bearing the inscription "READY RELIABLE EXACT" in black letters. Symbolism
Crimson is a color traditionally associated with Maintenance organizations, the original allocation of the unit. The predecessor Battalion's service in World War II is symbolized by the wheel (dharma chakra) for India and the Burmese lion for Burma. The pedestal alludes to support and refers to the organization's basic mission. Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 7th Maintenance Battalion on 30 December 1966. It was amended to revise the description and symbolism on 31 December 1992. The insignia was redesignated with the symbolism revised for the 17th Support Battalion effective 16 October 1993. Battalion Motto: Always Ready!
