Fun Story:

Until the recent weekend addition of some votes, our race was going to be finalized with the ranked choice vote tabulation, and we wanted to respect the process. I was kind of surprised, but today 4 votes were added.

What’s interesting about this (and shows the power of each vote) is if just these four votes had been distributed differently it could’ve triggered the rank choice vote tabulation.

We don’t expect that would’ve changed the overall outcome, but just a reminder that your vote matters!

For me, politics is all about the people. It has to be authentic. No staged photos. No slick ads. Not gobs of money. In my campaigns, my focus has always been on the people, learning what’s important to my neighbors, and committing to do my absolute best to represent those interests.

The most important thing to me is meeting you at your door, face-to-face, so we can get to know each other. Thank you so much for the time that you took to speak with me and share what’s important to you. The postcards I write afterwards are sent with care and appreciation for your time visiting with me.

I care deeply about our area, about our future, and making sure we don’t leave anyone behind!

I spoke with Rep. Tarr on my podcast about some bills she sponsored in the House. One such bill would have changed how Fairbanks Police interacted with the public this summer. HB 270 would have banned law enforcement from shooting at moving vehicles. This summer, Fairbanks Police were involved in a car chase that ended with officers shooting at a moving vehicle at a busy intersection. The suspect died and the victim and an officer were injured as a result.
Had the bills that Tarr and so many others worked on been passed, we would have likely had a far less dangerous interaction and one Alaskan would have had their right to a trial recognized."
