❗️Heads up, Alaska! Someone in (or traveling through) Anchorage recently has had measles.

Measles is highly contagious, and can lead to lifelong health issues. Protect yourself + ppl who can’t get vaccinated (like babies) by wearing a well-fitting mask.

Samples taken from a plant in the state’s largest city revealed genetic material from measles, a highly contagious disease that is particularly dangerous for young children.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table this past Saturday at Disability Pride Fest! We had a great time speaking with all of you about different kinds of masks and why it is still a good idea to incorporate masks in your daily life.

COVID and other viral illness can disproportionately impact our disabled and immunocompromised community members who are not physically able to protect themselves by wearing a respirator or receiving vaccinations. But these viruses can also severely alter the lives of (previously) non-disabled individuals—each new infection increases the risk of developing chronic illnesses like long COVID!

Including masking in our daily lives is not only an act of self-care for those of us able to do so, but an act of community care for our disabled/immunocompromised peers who are not able to use these tools. Join us in rocking a mask with pride!
