Municipality of Anchorage Tradition Tuesday

“Welcoming Anchorage” is a collaboration between the Municipality of Anchorage, local businesses and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation which strives to reinforce Anchorage as a place proud of our heritage and poised to position ourselves as a globally-competitive, culturally-vibrant community.

We would like to invite you to attend the Tradition Tuesday “Hmong Culture & History Day” located at the Loussac Library. This event will be held on the 4th floor in the Innovation Lab, Tuesday, November 15 from 6.30PM-7.30PM. There will be a presentation about Hmong culture along with traditional dancers.

Tradition Tuesday is a platform for communities and cultural groups to come to Loussac Library and showcase the diverse place in which we live. Each group is welcome to showcase their traditional dance, art, songs, pictures or anything they see fit for the event, as well as share information about their community through a short power-point presentation.

The public is invited so bring your friends and family. Beyond creating an enjoyable place for our community, we see Tradition Tuesday as a positive way for the public to celebrate the spirit of Anchorage and show our appreciation for everyone who has given so much to our city.

As part of “Welcoming Anchorage”, we are conducting Tradition Tuesday, which will occur in the Loussac Library on the 4th floor in the Innovation Lab, November 15 and December 20 from 6-7.30pm. Our ultimate goal is to build dialogue, provide cultural enrichment and relationships within the community. By connecting with each other, we want to make Anchorage safer and stronger.

The Municipality of Anchorage Mayor’s office cordially invites the public to Tradition Tuesday because Anchorage is home to the most ethnically diverse schools and neighborhoods in the United States. Tradition Tuesday is a platform for communities and cultural groups to come to Loussac Library on the 4th floor in the Innovation Lab to showcase their community and culture as we are eager to learn more about the diverse place in which we live. Each cultural group is welcome to bring in their traditional food, presentations, art, songs, pictures or anything they see fit for the event as well as sharing traditions about their community.

For the public, Tradition Tuesday is an opportunity for you to learn about the diverse cultures that make Anchorage unique. Beyond creating an enjoyable place for our community, we see Tradition Tuesday as a very positive way to celebrate the diverse spirit of Anchorage and our appreciation for everyone who has given so much to our city.
