While out on a walk around Little Campbell Lake, I had no intention of picking up little until I started seeing it.

Sometimes I question if picking up a handful of trash makes an impact.
Well today it felt like I did!
I took a 9 volt battery out of the waterline. Not but 15 feet down the trail I watched a bird bathing in the lake.

2 hour of effort today with the little helper =4.5 bags filled!

This was our part in a team effort to clean up a trashed property in Spenard.

Lost a few point of humanity when I was clean up syringes in the waterway itself 🥲

Definitely better than when we arrived ,but far from finished ♻️

I take leave the camp site better than you found it to the extreme!

This is one of our favorite camp site , despite the fact that we have to clean it up every time!

No only did we pick up all the litter we could see, I also dug out the fire pit and separated the litter out !

While digging holes for the ash, we dug up a dozen 1980's soda cans.

I absolutely love the idea of the next campers finding this site & firepit so clean 💚

A little preservation of beauty for the next folks goes a long way in my book

Does picking up 1 piece of litter make much difference? Maybe not

But taking litter out of this stream does help to preserve a little beauty for the next hiker

Made a lot more progress on Chugach Way today !

From just the snowy side of Chugach & Cope down to almost Spenard I filled 3 buckets! Then I stopped to clean up a big concentrated mess.
I tried my best to capture before, during & after photos this time. I want to represent the "productivity" here for both you and I !
There was lots more litter out around here but my cart was just about full and probably the heaviest it's been !

Today's team efforts ! Started at Chugach Foothills park, still full of snow we just cleaned up around the parking lot.
Then cleaned up many buckets from Tudor and Checkmate dr down to Castle Heights Park!

Between team effort and my first ever random donation via my tiny QR code on my sign, today really put the wind in my sails for making a difference!

I was making my way down to Spring Park via Chugach Way, I ended up too occupied just from Cope St to Arctic Blvd!

I often wonder how many "pieces" of litter I pick up...I put the focus on collecting vs counting!

I think the worst litter is probably plastic because it gets run over and broken down into countless pieces 🥲

The bucket you see is almost entirely broken down plastics I saved from breaking down more on our neighborhood roads! That's a small win in my book

Last night I was down at Point Woronzof enjoying the sunset and spotted this wild drum! It's basic metal and the top had some serious rust. I thought about it most of the night, I came to the conclusion I didn't want the tide to eventually take it.

Today I went to retrieve it and it had been kicked or blown closer toward the water's edge!
That's when I figured I'd made the right decision. I am very happy because I plan to clean it up, give it a new paint job and home 🪘♻️

While there, I figured I might as well spend an hour or 2 cleaning up! 3 buckets later I was cold and wet so that was that :)
(side note: picked up about 150+ cigarette butts 🤢)
