The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is calling for an emergency ban on what is known as spice, meaning "fake pot" products that give a marijuana-like high could be illegal within the month.

Early drug exposure shown to affect brain function later in life.

Amphetamine abuse during adolescence permanently changes brain cells, according to new animal research. The study shows drug exposure during adolescence, but not young adulthood, altered electrical properties of brain cells in the cortex.

M**hamphetamine is addictive, and users can develop a tolerance quickly, needing larger amounts to get high. In some cases, users forego food and sleep and take more m**h every few hours for days, ‘binging’ until they run out of the drug or become too disorganized to continue. Chronic use can cause paranoia, hallucinations, repetitive behavior (such as compulsively cleaning, grooming or disassembling and assembling objects), and delusions of parasites or insects crawling under the skin.

M**hamphetamine is a crystal-like powdered substance that sometimes comes in large rock-like chunks. When the powder flakes off the rock, the shards look like glass, which is another nickname for m**h. M**h is usually white or slightly yellow, depending on the purity.

A large, multi-site study of 1,354 serious juvenile offenders found that substance use was strongly correlated to their "continued criminal activity," and that treatment could reduce criminal offenses.

In October President Obama signed the Combat M**hamphetamine Enhancement Act of 2010 (H.R.2923). This law requires sellers of products
containing m**hamphetamine precursors to file a
self-certification with the U.S. Department of Justice.
This will include a statement to certify that the seller
understands and agrees to comply with the legal
requirements for the sale of products containing
pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, and
phenylpropanolamine.
