Today, we remember the Great Alaska Good Friday Earthquake of March 27, 1964.

We honor the lives lost, the communities forever changed, and the strength of the people who endured the 9.2-magnitude earthquake — one of the most powerful ever recorded. It also triggered a tsunami that brought immense destruction and loss to our region.

The resilience shown in the aftermath, especially in our Alutiiq communities, continues to inspire us today.

Free Positive Indigenous Parenting Class Starts April 6th, Register Now!

Traditional child-rearing practices are some of the most powerful tools we have for building strong, healthy families. The next round of Positive Indigenous Parenting training is here, and will be available through Zoom.

This free eight-week virtual curriculum, developed by the National Indian Child Welfare Association, helps native families reconnect with cultural teachings while navigating the realities of modern parenting. Participants build stronger family bonds, preserve traditions and find new ways to show up for the children in their lives.

Classes meet Mondays beginning April 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom. Please share this opportunity with staff, caregivers, clients and anyone who might benefit.

Today

Hey Pretty! 💖
Can you believe it’s 2025 already? Let’s kick off the new year together with a lil sew + sip + talanoa at Kalapu Ifo’s first gathering of the year. 🧵✨

We’ll be exploring the Pearls of Health—nurturing our well-being (Heart & Brain) while connecting as a community. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric and needle.

If you’d like to offer a Koha (a monetary gesture of support), contributions can be made through the link in our bio—all proceeds go towards food and materials for our participants.

Mālō! 🌺🌺🌺
